Not our typical supper

This was our supper last evening.

Yesterday afternoon, Sidney commented that it had been a while since he had eaten his yummy deviled eggs.  I, seeing an opportunity to transfer responsibility, say  “Well, why don’t you make some for our supper.”  He jumped all over this.

That was easy.  Maybe in a few years I can completely work my way out of regular meal prep.  Then I could be more Martha Stewarty and be creative and make fun stuff and my kids will think I am the coolest mom ever.  I have a recipe for stuffed tulips that I have always wanted to try.  I thought it would make a neat springtime tradition, around Easter.  But alas, slaving to prepare meals 3 times a day EVERY single day for a family of 6 and then organize all the clean up that follows . . . . . . . . . well, it is not a terrible life, but it doesn’t motivate me to step back into the kitchen just for fun much.

But I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel.  I think this spring might be the time for stuffed tulips.

Tulips may not be in season just now, but zucchini, cucumber and tomatoes are, so that made up the rest of yesterday’s meal.  Zucchini bread with cream cheese spread, tomatoes and cukies mixed with a dollop of sour cream and seasoned and Sidney’s deviled eggs —-not a balanced meal perhaps, but there were no complaints.
