The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey – one of my favorites
Jotham’s Journey – We read one chapter a night for Advent last year. The boys loved it and often begged for more. It is a fictional story about a young shepherd boy who runs away from home. His dangerous adventure, searching for his family, ultimately leads him to the birth of Jesus. The way the fictional story is woven into the factual biblical history is fairly well done. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this one much more than I had expected.
One Wintry Night – We will be using this one for our Advent reading this year. It is a retelling of the whole Bible story from creation to salvation.
Christmas Day in the Morning – draws a picture of what selflessness and sacrfice looks like and its effect on others, love this one

Saint Nicolas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend
We kicked off our Christmas celebration last week by watching The Nativity Story and The Star of Bethlehem. Sidney actually watched The Star of Bethlehem numerous times before we pried it from his clenched hands and returned it to Neftlix. He is now asking for the computer software used in the documentary to study the planets. But I have already bought his Christmas present, and I don’t think we can fork out the $300 for the version he would want.
Tonight we watch Frosty the Snowman and something Sid calls “kerplunk, kerplu-ey.”
