Lincoln’s Epiphany

Saturday afternoon, Lincoln sat at the kitchen table, intently focused on ripping the peel from an orange.

Suddenly, he holds up his right hand, wiggling  his thumb back and forth.  Blue eyes shining brightly with a new awareness, he says with earnest appreciation, “MAN, this thumb is really useful.”
